Schoolof International Education（SIE） (originally the Foreign LanguageDepartment) offers (jointly with Jiangsu Normal University) a general undergraduate educationprogram, namely, English (Business English orientation). It has more than 300 studentsand consists of three departments: Department of Applied Language, Deparment ofCollege English Teachingand Deparment of TeachersEnglish Teaching. SIEis responsible for theteaching and management of undergraduate professional English courseand undergraduate and higher vocational public English course.
SIEhas a well-structured, well-informed, proactive and vigorous faculty. It has 33faculty members, including 7 associate professors and 25 lecturers, and 31teachers with graduate degreeor master's degreeor above. Most full-time teachers have experience of studying for degree inforeign countries, further training and foreign visits.
SIEemploys a number of foreign cultural and educational experts to teach oralEnglish and British and American culture and work as language consultants, makingevery student receive the pure English language education. To highlight theprofessional practicability, it also employs experts in the enterprise withrich practical experience and senior titles as part-time teachers to teachpractice courses
SIEis equipped with advanced teaching facilitiesandhas a series of high-level language experiments and training facilities such asdigital language labs, an English online learning center, a business simulated negotiationroom and a business English simulation laboratory experiment room. In thecourse of teaching, the multimedia network education is widely used to optimizethe teaching process and improve the quality of teaching.SIElays stress on improving students’ English languageability, professional skills and comprehensive qualities while cultivating studentswith solid basic knowledge and a reasonable knowledge structure.
Theteachers of SIE adhere to supporting teaching with scientific research and areactively engaged in teaching reform to promote professional development. It hasconducted extensive cooperation and exchanges with domestic and foreignuniversities in many aspects, such as the construction of teaching material,multimedia resources development,quality curriculum construction,talents training mode reform and cooperatively running a school. Meanwhile, weactively carry out teaching research and subject research, and have undertaken theprojects of national education scientific planning and provincial researchprojects.

SIEis the site of examinations such as China International Business English Test(level 1) organized by China Association of International Trade of Ministry of Commerce,National Workplace English Test and TOEIC Bridge by Education Testing Service(ETS). Therefore, without leaving the school, the student can take the test of Englishapplication ability and professional English ability in the internationalbusiness environment, to obtain the professional qualification certificate ofEnglish, truly realizing unity in study and work,“multi-certificate integration.
