On the night of 12th and 13th October, President Cui made a detailed analysis and interpretation of the main tasks in economic work in the second half of 2017 to all the freshmen. The class was chaired by Ms Jin, vice president, related personnel and some teachers were present.
At first, Cui kicked off the class by raising two questions: How to view the economic situation we are facing? What are the factors that may affect a country’s economy? The two questions provok edstudents’ thought. He said, students are supposed to be cultivated to beself-disciplined, self-motivated in learning at universities. The class is designed to focus on students’ ability in autonomic learning. Then, centering around “thinking in an economics pattern”, “analysis on economic situation” and“primary tasks in economic work”, rigorously and wittily, he presented to students a vivid application of economic theory in daily life. Moreover, for the economic work of the second half of 2017, he analyzed the keynote ofseeking improvement in stability, clarifying that “stability” finds itself in alow inflation, foreign exchange rates, asset prices, financial risks and industrial development; “improvement” means a boost in a confidence in private economy, propelling the reform in SOEs and financial systems to be better prepared for the third wave of globalization. Cui said that the combination of stability and improvement could be the only key to furthering reform andeconomic restructure, which may contribute to creating a favorable macro economic situation. While interacting with students, Cui answered their questions like“wage of college graduates, destocking of real estate market, two centurial goals”
Finally, Cui instructed the students to belearning hard before they can become talents for serving the country. This lesson of situation and policy was well received by teachers and students whoadmit that they have benefited from it in terms of economics knowledge acquisition and way of thinking in an economics pattern as well.
