From October 16th to 19th 2017, the 27th world convention of International Committee of Distance Education was held in Toronto, Canada, over 1300 experts, scholars,practitioners in distance education from 95 countries of the world participatedin the convention, four teachers from our university, Zhang Xiangyang,Zhang Zhihui, Cheng Bingyue, Xu Ling, were present at the convention.
There were five theme forums for the convention,namely, “emerging teaching methodologies and online learning design”,“expanding admittance, openness, and flexibility” ”changing mode of assessment””new transferring tools and learning resources” and “redesigning the commercial mode of institutions”. Four teachers of our university delivered speeches on topics of sustainable development of Jiangsu Open University, digitalized teaching method, the application of distance education on children of autism,and the research on aged learners, which aroused heated discussion with theaudience.
During the convention, our delegates actively introduced Jiangsu Open University and the magazine of “Lifelong Education Research” to other participants, getting involved in discussions on a variety of related topics, which has gained them a new understanding of the most updated dynamics on world distance education research, broadened their horizonand deepened their knowledge in the development of distance education.
It is said the 28thworld convention of ICDE will take place in Ireland next year.
