The result of“Yuanye Cup” international college students competition of 2017 has been announced recently, HanXuelei， a student from the department of landscape design won an award of cultural landscape category with her work of “a combination of culture and space－a landscape design for Daxinggong plaza in Nanjing”. The instructor is XiongXin.
“Yuanye cup”competitions are sponsored by Asian Landscape Association, landscape international competition committee, and organized by Chinese landscape web,world landscape magazine, with pervasive influence in the industry. In this competition, more than 800 pieces of work from famous universities of the Great Britain, Taiwan, Beijing, Nanjing, etc. were received.
Our worktitled “a combination of culture and space－a landscape design for Daxinggong plaza in Nanjing” takes Daxinggong as the object which covers a series of important cultural sites,such as presidential palace, Nanjing municipal museum, Jiangsu art gallery.It’s a place where important cultural space and sites gather. Her designillustrated the two key elements of contextual overlap and a communication between culture and space. In terms of space network, leading space, culturalspectacle design, pedestrian bridge and a variety of other elements wereadopted to rearrange public space in an effort to create a comprehensivelandscape with multi-layered cultural background, different ways of communication, various types of space for activities.
Department of landscape design has been exploring the effect of various competitions ontalent cultivation, trying to involve competition into practical teaching,propelling students to integrate with the latest designing ideas, and foster students’ innovation and creativity.
