Recently, Jiangsu Province, the leading group on poverty alleviation has issued a recognition of advanced units and members with excellent support work during 2016-2017 in Jiangsu province to help the poor, our university was awarded the advanced unit.
During the Thirteenth Five Year Plan period, Huaian Lianshui County East Hu Ji Zhen lu du village was identified as the beneficiary of our financial aid since its economic and social development level was low, the village’s complexion was extensively disorganized, in urgent need of improvement, 440 people in 126 households were of low income accounting for 10.5% of the total population. Two years have witnessed a great change in the village with a remarkable achievement in poverty alleviation.
University leaders attach great importance to it. For two years, leading members came to the Lu Du village to carry out poverty alleviation activities, providing strong support. By constantly increasing the efforts to strengthen poverty alleviation funds, the university has donated an anti-poverty fund of 530,000, the leaders and poverty alleviation team members gave condolences to nearly 80 households of low-income and the old party members, a total amount of about 30,000 yuan.
By playing the role of the grass-roots party branch and actively promoting the construction of the party branch, the university has strengthened learning activities of the Branch, the implementation of the views of members, in an effort to achieve a cohesion of members and to seek common development. In 2017, the school spent 40,000 yuan on hardware construction of the village department party member's activity room.
We have actively carried out the mental poverty alleviation by organizing low-income farmers to participate in training on cooking skills and nursery, geriatric care, Pastry division, E-commerce with 15 people successfully graduated and obtained Vocational Skills certificates. Students from School of business came to Rudu village to carry out social activities, in the summer of 2016 and 2017 holding a summer camp activity for local left-behind children, donating 400books and stationary donating 30,000 yuan to the 10 students who were admitted to the University from poor families.
