On December 26, A Third Doctors’ Academic Forum themed “New Horizon of Life Long Education” was held in Nanjing. The forum was sponsored by the JSOU editorial office of “Journal of Life-long Education”. More than 40 experts, scholars and researchers from universities and research institutes attended the forum. Doctor Miao Jiandong, Vice President of Nanjing Normal University, and Professor Cui Xinyou, President of JSOU were specially invited as the review experts.
Wu Guanglin, Vice President of JSOU and the chief editor of “Life-long Education” pointed in his opening speech that JSOU undertakes the mission of constructing the life-long education system of Jiangsu, and is devoted to the construction of a learning society. The Doctors’ Forum and “Journal of Life-long Education” provided a platform for academic exchange and theoretical research of life-long education.
Professor Liu Shibin form Qufu Normal University made a report on “Adult Education and Its Research Trend”. Professor Ouyang Zhongming from Jiangxi Technology Normal University made a report on “Research of Vocational Learning of New-Type Skilled Farmers”. Doctor Yu Wenhao from Shanghai Foreign Language University made a report on “Research of Development in Enterprise Training from the Perspective of HR Strategy”. Doctor Hu Xiaotian from Huadong Normal University made a report on “Progress of International Research on Workplace Learning.
Doctor Miao Jiandong and Professor Cui Xinyou made reviewing remarks on their reports, commenting on the new ideas and creative perspectives of their researches and giving further enlightening suggestions to all attendees about having research in the field of life-long education.
Professor Cui Xinyou made a summery speech in the end. He said that the forum had heated discussion on the topics of adults learning, learning behavior and learning environment. These discussions expanded our research horizon. The forum reached an agreement that the main mission of adult education is in transition from degree education to constructing learning society, that information technology has been fully applied in adult education, and that life-long education research should be based on learner-centered, interdisciplinary and localization - internationalization integrated principle.
