On April 25, the 4th Doctor Forum on Life-long Education was successfully held in Nanjing. The forum was hosted by JSOU, and co-hosted by “Life-long Education Research Journal”. More than 40 experts, scholars and young doctors from 20 universities attended the forum. Cui Xinyou, president of JSOU made a report entitled “Open Universities, the Leading Power of Social Education” at the opening ceremony, and Zhang Xiao, vice president delivered a welcome speech.
In his report, Cui Xinyou reviewed the development history and tradition of social education in China, analyzed current situation and the principal social contradictions, and elaborated open universities’ leading power in social education and JSOU’s innovative measures in propelling social education development in Jiangsu based on national policies and requirements for open universities. He wished the forum would focus on the theme of “Facing the Lifelong Learning in 2035: Ideology, Policy, Practice”, and further explore the new requirement and deployment raised by our country, generate more theoretical research outcomes and provide support for modernization of education.
Professor Wu Ruibao, director of Books & Newspaper Data Center of Renmin University of China, made a report entitled “Enhance Learning with a Lifelong Physiology”. Professor Huang Jian, director of EDP Center of Huadong Normal University, reported on “Outlook of Education Modernization”. Professor Tan Xu, executive chief editor of Books & Newspaper Data Center of Renmin University of China, Professor Wu Feng from Beijing University, and Dr. Sun Meilu from East China Normal University made comments on the reports. 18 young scholars shared their outcomes in theoretical research, policy interpretation, and practical application.
