On June 1st to 2nd, the 3rd Field Sports Meet of JSOU was held in Jintan Open University. The sports meet was themed “Pursue One Dream, Share One Future”. 336 student athletes from 17 branch universities of JSOU participated this event.
At the opening ceremony, party secretary of JSOU Wang Jianming declared the meet open. President Cui Xinyou delivered an opening speech. Deputy secretary and vice president Jin Lixia presided the opening ceremony. Party secretary and president of Changzhou Open University, Gu Xihong, president of Jintan Open University Bian Yongping, and leaders from Jiangsu Department of Education, Changzhou government and Jintan district government were present at the ceremony.
Physical education is important to improve people’s health, and to cultivate students’ mentality and spirits. It is not only a path for self-perfection and self-surpass of individuals, but also a guarantee of national prosperity and revitalization. Cui Xinyou said in his speech. He considered this sports meet a big event for all the 150,000 teachers and students of JSOU which would strengthen their sportsmanship and the ties between each branch university. In the end, he wished success to the sports meet.
Representative of referees Wang Xiaohua and representative of athletes Cao Cao made the vow.
After that came a grand show which demonstrated the vitality and versatility of the students.
In the two-day event, the athletes gave full play to Olympic spirits and sportsmanship, breaking 11 university records. 14 athletes reached national level 2 athlete standard.
On June 2nd, the sports meet was closed. Deputy Secretary Jin Lixia addressed a close speech, highly evaluating the achievements of the event and wishing the athletes to maintain the sports spirit in their study and life, and contribute more to the development of JSOU.
