On December 9 to 14, Dr. Yuan Wei, a teacher from School of Architectural Engineering went to Australia and attended the 2019 Asia-Pacific Conference on FRP in Structures. There were 15 topics on the conference concerning bonding slip of materials, seismic core performance of the structure during its life cycle, structural design methods and design principles, and FRP-concrete structural performance, etc. 126 experts and scholars from 12 countries were present at the conference, and had profound academic exchanges.
Dr. Yuan Wei gave a lecture on “FRP Confined Hybrid Reinforced Columns: Concept and Preliminary Validation”, introducing a new concept of combination column with FRP confined concrete outside and reinforcing bars inside, which was recognized by the conference participants. Experts were interested in this method and gave constructive proposals on it.
The conference provides dynamic frontier information in the field of composite structures, and is a good opportunity for young teachers to learn and promote their capacity for scientific research.
