On July 28, Cui Xinyou, president of JSOU had investigation in Nantong Open University and gave a lecture entitled “Construction of Jiangsu Open University in the New Era of Higher Education Development”. He elaborated on topics of how to adhere to the socialist orientation of school running, fulfill open universities’ duties to serve the local development, and inheriting fine traditional culture. He also pointed that JSOU will keep improving standards of constructing disciplines and cultivating talents, integrating information technology with teaching, exploring new modes of higher education, strengthening the function of credit bank of learning recognition, promoting the equality of education, and preparing for the changes and challenges of development. According to Cui, JSOU and its 73 branches are relatively independent but closely connected, and they together constitute a system. Only by working together and developing together, can they ensure the education meets people’s needs.
