On the 89th anniversary of the September 18th Incident, 10 AM, the air defense warning was on. In studio 406 of gymnasium in Yingtian Campus, an atmosphere of solemnity and reverence prevailed. Jin Lixia, deputy party secretary of JSOU, Ren Yi, director of Nanjing National Defense Park, Lu Zunhou, director of Nanjing Military Garrison Political Section, Shu Zhenghuang, dean of General Education Institute, Yin Xing, secretary of JSOU Youth League Committee, Bao Huijun, deputy director of Student Affairs Office, Zhang Li, deputy dean of Nanjing National Defense Park, together with student representatives and national flag group members, remembered the martyrs and mourned the victims.
This was the scene of the national defense popularization activity on campus which named Share Dream and Responsibility of Building a Strong Army Together between the Army and the People. It was also the opening ceremony of JSOU’s National Defense Education Practice Base, together with Nanjing National Defense Park.
After the mourning, Ren Yi gave a speech. Ren indicated that Nanjing National Defense Park’s bringing national defense exhibition and exhibits into JSOU aimed at not only popularizing national defense education, but also helping the public remember our history. Everyone should raise the awareness of national defense, draw strength from history, actively shoulder the historical responsibility of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and dedicate to realizing the Chinese dream of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through action.
Jin Lixia pointed out that national defense education was an essential part in college education. It raised students’ awareness of national defense, helped the country cultivate and reserve talents, helped college students better understand the mission of soldiers and cultivated patriotism for college students. Jin emphasized that it was really pioneering to hold an event like this, popularizing national defense. On the one hand, the event established a new practice education platform; on the other hand, it formed the new cooperated situation for practice education.
Zhang Dongguo, a student from JSOU, advocated that the college students should establish the awareness of national defense, gain knowledge about national defense, strengthen related skills and promote youthful and positive energy through actions.
In June 2020, General Education Institute of JSOU signed the cooperation agreement for national defense education base construction with Nanjing National Defense Park. Jin Lixia, Ren Yi and Lu Zunhou unveiled the national defense education base.
By the end of the opening ceremony, the guide from Nanjing National Defense Park introduced the exhibits to all the students. Themes of the exhibition were Advanced Weapons in China and Models of Advanced Weapons in China.
