On September 6, Zhang Xiao, vice president of JSOU, together with directors and staff from Education Department carried out a special safety inspection in JSOU in order to implement the notice from the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Department of Education on laboratory safety, discover and eliminate potential laboratory safety hazards, and ensure the personal security of teachers and students.
The inspection team checked the points in the List of Laboratory Safety Inspection Project in Colleges and Universities(2020) and organized on spot inspection for the safety management rules and regulations, fire emergency safety facilities, water and electricity safety facilities, operation safety of instruments and equipment, safety management of hazardous chemicals and waste disposals and health and daily management.
Zhang Xiao carefully inquired the present situation and difficulties in laboratory safety management every time she reached a new laboratory. She also pointed out the hidden dangers and weak links in management. The relevant schools were required to correct the problems within the time limit as soon as the problems were found. At the same time, she emphasized that all schools should attach great importance to the laboratory safety, make sure there was a person who was in charge, pay close attention to the laboratory safety inspection and strictly prevent the accidents from happening.
The inspection showed that most of the laboratories were in good conditions, and most of the potential safety hazards earlier were rectified already. However, there were still several schools whose regulations need to be improved. The inspection team listed the rectification opinions and improvement suggestions for the problems they found.
