On September 25, Zou Jia, general secretary of School of Media and Design, Sun Peisong, deputy dean of School of Media and Design and Guo Haiyan, director of general office of School of Media and Design visited Nanjing Saint Joy Songjin Exhibition Center and negotiated for the cooperation between Saint Joy and JSOU.
Saint Joy Sonjin Exhibition Center located in a small building on Jiangsu road which was built during the Republic of China. Rui Meiqun, director of the Saint Joy Nanjing, introduced Song brocade for the visitors. Song brocade originated from the Spring and Autumn period, formed itself as an individual textile in the Southern Song dynasty and reached its peak among Ming and Qing dynasties. Song brocade was highly praised for its fine texture, unique craft, elegant colors and complicated patterns. Song brocade from Suzhou, together with Shu brocade from Sichuan and Yunjin from Nanjing, was called the top 3 brocades in China. In 2006, the weaving technique of Song brocade was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages. In 2009, it was selected as one of the world intangible cultural heritages. Up till now, more than 60 Song brocade products were picked as the visiting gifts for national leaders by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Song brocade cultural park was included in the list of social education experience bases in 2020 and lifelong education experience bases for citizens in the Yangzte River Delta.
After Rui’s introduction of Song brocade, Zou Jia stated the history of JSOU and expressed the will of cooperation in all areas with Saint Joy. Sun Peisong introduced the cooperation between enterprises and School of Media and Design and discussed the potential cooperation, for instance, designing cultural product, exchanging teachers, expanding classes and the industry-academic-research cooperation.
The visit ended with a tour of Song brocade exhibition. Every exhibit showed its historical cultural allusions and excellent embroidery techniques, while it seemed to have different colors and texture when people see it from various aspects.
