On October 30, the Ministry of Education published the first round result of national first-class undergraduate courses. JSOU’s course Kunqu Opera, designed by Zhu Yuntao and Tao Leiyu, was selected as one of the 717 national online first-class courses. Kunqu Opera is also the only course organized by open university, which marks a great breakthrough for JSOU since February 2018, when two higher vocational courses were selected as the National Quality Open Course.
The first round of national first-class undergraduate courses is easily-sharing, applicable and representative with high quality, which stands for the highest level of China’s undergraduate courses. JSOU Discipline Construction Division was in charge of the recommendation and put much effort into it. On the one hand, JSOU actively communicated with departments from the Ministry of Education and Department of Education for sorting JSOU into undergraduate group; on the other hand, JSOU organized qualified course leaders to analyze the national online open course application requirements, to guide and follow up the whole process to ensure the smooth application.
In recent years, JSOU has constantly strengthened the online curriculum construction, through the formulation and improvement of its online curriculum construction standards. JSOU has also clarified the basic standards and norms, continuously improved the quality of online curriculum construction. By deeply promoting the principle of student-centered curriculum construction and advocating the deep integration of information technology and education, teachers have effectively promoted their exploration and innovative practice of curriculum reform. Through the cultivation of school-level curriculum construction projects and the application above provincial level, a number of online courses with characteristics, innovation, wide application, demonstration and sharing value have been completed, 27 online open courses of the 13th Five-Year Plan of Jiangsu Province have been established, which laid a solid foundation for JSOU to make a breakthrough in the national online curriculum construction.
