On October 17, JSOU held the opening ceremony for the freshmen of grade 2020. The ceremony was also broadcasted online. It was the first time for students from both JSOU and JSCVC to attend the same opening ceremony. 73 county open universities in Jiangsu Province, more than 10,000 students from JSOU and 2,600 students from JSCVC attended the ceremony online. Wang Jianming, Party secretary of JSOU, Cui Xinyou, president of JSOU, leaders from all county open universities and departments, class teachers of grade 2020, teacher representatives and all the counsellors attended the opening ceremony. Jin Lixia, deputy Party secretary presided over the ceremony.
The opening ceremony for freshmen of grade 2020 officially started with the national anthem. Cui Xinyou taught the first lesson to all the students. In his class, he praised the dedication and integrity that young people showed in the pandemic. He used the metaphor of Bridge to stress that exquisite skills came from the spirit of craftsman and labor quality, for example, Guangji Bridge and Zhaozhou Bridge. JSOU was also a bridge; it was a bridge of culture, study, mind and future.
You Jiachun, vice president of JSOU announced the Decision on Awarding Outstanding Freshmen of Grade 2020. All the JSOU leaders certificated and praised the outstanding freshmen.
Hou Xinyu, deputy dean of School of Civil Engineering and Architecture encouraged the freshmen to cherish time, keep on trying and adhere to ideal. Representatives of freshmen delivered their speeches as well. Wei Wei, Li Jiaming and Liu Yunzhi shared their experience as freshmen of JSOU. Zhu Xingbing from JSCVC expressed his firm determination to study diligently in college.Zhao Minxuan, president of JSCVC student union led all the freshmen to take an oath. Then all the teachers and students watched alumni videos.
Jin Lixia advised the freshmen to change fate by knowledge and perfect life through study.
