Under the guidance of JSOU party committee and Armed Forces Department of Gulou district, with the support of schools and departments, JSOU successfully completed military conscription of 2020. After the pre-service training, 15 students joined the army. More students than ever before in JSOU joined the army.
In response to the call of the nation, and in order to encourage excellent college students to join the army, JSOU actively carried out the publicity of conscription. Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, contactless measures were used in the recruitment. The Security Department gave out recruitment brochures, set up banners and display boards on campus, took online platforms Wechat and QQ as the main positions and mobilized students through student groups. The Security Department also kept in touch with students who intended to join the army, making sure that they could receive conscription policies and information in time.
JSOU put every effort into completing the tasks of military conscription, holding students’ physical examination, psychological examination, political test, nucleic acid tests and pre-service training. In 2020, 50 students applied the conscription, among which 28 passed both physical examination and political test. After the pre-service training, 15 students passed the PLA interview and joined the army.
JSOU always plays an active role in conscription. 63 JSOU students has joined the army since 2015 and many received the title of Gulou Outstanding Retired College Students. Just like retired student Yan Weijie said, the army life was the best of youth. In the future, JSOU would emphasize national defense education and encourage students to join the army during college.
