November witnessed a successful completion of the 8th debate competition for college students at JSCVC which took place on the Yingtian Campus. Ms Chen Lei, Director of the Propaganda Department, and Xie Dongbin, the librarian, together with Liu Tao, Lu Fuyi, Yin Xin, Gong Wansong were present serving as judges. More than 300 students watched the competition.
Participated by 6 teams, the debate was carried out in preliminary and final sessions. Semifinalists from schools of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Health and Endowment, Information and Electrical Engineering and Business had a verbal battle on the propositions of “Is real-name system obligatory for voicing on the internet?""Which is more important? Garbage sorting, environmental awareness education or supporting facilities?" A witty argument won applause from the audience and received professional comments from Dr. Xie Dongbin as well.
The delegation form Business School won the companionship of group, School of Information and Electrical Engineering took the second place. The title of "Best debater”went to Ma Yang, a student of Information and Electrical Engineering. Teacher Wu Kewei was awarded “Best adviser”.
