JSOU Held the Seminar for Barrier-free Environment Construction in the 14th Five-Year Plan

On January 8th, 2021, JSOU held the seminar for barrier-free environment construction in the 14th five-year plan, together with School of Management of Nanjing Normal University of Special Education. The participants of the seminar included Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development, Jiangsu Disabled Persons’ Federation, Nanjing Housing and Urban Rural Development Committee, Nanjing Disabled Persons’ Federation, Jiangsu Transportation Institute and Nanjing Construction Engineering Group.

The first section of the seminar was presided over by Hou Xinyu, dean of JSOU School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Sun Xu, director of JSOU Science and Technology Division delivered the opening speech and Yang Huiliang, dean of School of Management of Nanjing Normal University of Special Education gave a speech on the seminar as well. 

In the second section of the seminar, professor Zhou Xuyang, deputy professor Chen Congjian, Yan Ying and Su Haihua from JSOU, professor Yang Huiliang and doctor Zeng Hongyan from Nanjing Normal University of Special Education, Ye Jingming and Shen Yilei, section chiefs from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development, Liu Hong, director of Jiangsu Disabled Persons’ Federation, Zhang Buhong, director of Nanjing Housing and Urban Rural Development Committee, Wang Fenglei, deputy director of Nanjing Disabled Persons’ Federation, Lu Shaohui, engineer from Nanjing Construction Engineering Group all delivered their reports on construction of barrier-free cities and towns, concepts on barrier-free environment, barrier-free information communication and services, barrier-free tourism and so on.

The construction of barrier-free environment marks the progress of social civilization. It is also an inevitable requirement of China’s high-quality development. It reflects social concern and support for the disabled, the elderly and other disadvantaged people. The seminar this time was problem-oriented, a number of experts analyzed the situation, difficulties and future trends fo the construction of barrier-free environment.
