The 11th Jiangsu Horticultural Exposition formally opened on April 16, 2021, in Tangshan Town, Jiangning District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, which marked the opening of the world's largest and most complete cultural and tourism mountain garden group. Teachers and students from JSOU School of Art were invited by styling team to take the charge of making-up and styling for the opening ceremony and cliff performance activities. The activity is of high level, immense difficulty, great influence and heavy responsibility. After undertaking the task, teachers and students worked together to overcome all kinds of difficulties and finally completed the task, which was highly praised by the main creative team and performers.
In 2014, nearly 100 JSOU teachers and students undertook the makeup work for more than 7000 people at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Youth Olympic Games, which received a good reputation since then. Based on previous cooperation, School of Art was invited this time. Wang Zheng, deputy dean of School of Art, led the team while Xia Xuemin, director of Image Art Department, coordinated and arranged the team. Tian Ke, JSOU alumnus and modeling director of Jiangsu Jinsha Styling School, and 12 JSOU students formed a team, whose responsibility was to fulfill the makeup and modeling work for performers of the opening and closing ceremonies and cliff theater.
Since April 13, JSOU teachers and students has been involved in many rehearsals and make-up reviews. The team has made an important contribution to the success of the opening ceremony and the first performance of cliff theater, reflecting skills and professionalism.
Students participated in the task expressed their great benefits. They expressed their gratitude to the JSOU and School of Art for setting up a good platform, consolidating their professional ideas and strengthening their professional confidence. They proposed that they would spontaneously and consciously improve their technical and artistic accomplishment, deeply study and appreciate China's long-standing cultural heritage, and enrich their own imagination and artistic style and creativity.
