At 9:00 am, on October 30th, the opening ceremony for 2021 JSOU freshmen was held in the Stadium of Yingtian Campus.
More than 30,000 JSOU students from 73 cities and counties in Jiangsu province and more than 1,200 new vocational college students from 17 provinces and 16 ethnic groups gathered together online. JSOU leaders, including Wang Jianming, secretary of JSOU Party Committee, Cui Xinyou, president of JSOU, attended the ceremony. Leaders of all the branch open universities, deans of all the departments, teachers' representatives, directors of freshmen class, academic supervisors and all the instructors attended as well. The ceremony was presided over by Jin Lixia, deputy secretary of JSOU Party Committee and vice president.
After singing the national anthem and raising the national flag, the opening ceremony for JSOU freshmen 2021 officially began.
Cui Xinyou gave "the first lecture" with the title of Learning to Increase Wisdom, Worship Virtue and Learn to Apply: Let Learning Build a Bridge of Life. He encouraged students to keep in mind the school motto of Making Learning a Way of Life and build a bridge of life through learning. For all JSOU freshmen, Cui had 3 requirements. The first was to break through the old self and explore a new self. The second was to break through false self and forge true self. The last was to break through the little self and bridge the greater self. He wished that every student could develop a good habit of lifelong learning, maintain conscience and be dedicative in their life.
Zhou Xiaojun, dean of JSOU Business School, delivered a speech as a teacher representative.
Zhang Xuejun, deputy director of Pukou Ecology and Environment Bureau and the representative of school-enterprise cooperation, spoke highly of JSOU’s running mode and its role in cultivation of talents.
Representatives of alumnus and freshmen also shared their experiences of striving to learn.
Under the leadership of executive chairman of JSOU student union, all freshmen raised their right arm and solemnly swore an oath that they would devote their youth to the great rejuvenation of China.
At the end of the ceremony, Jin Lixia encouraged all the freshmen to deeply understand the motto of JSOU and realize their dreams here.
