On the morning of May 20th, the second general meeting of Jiangsu Lifelong Education Research Association was held on Dinghuaimen Campus of JSOU. More than 70 members of the Association gathered on- and off-line.
Presided over by Professor Peng Kunming, Chairman of the First Council, the conference reviewed the work done by the First Council and newly revised articles of the Association. Reviewing the work of the First Council, Professor Peng sincerely thanked the Jiangsu Education Department and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Civil Affairs for their heartwarming guidance, and the experts from universities and Jiangsu Open University for their dedicated support and hard work. He said that the First Council was an explorer in the research of lifelong education in Jiangsu and its large-scale application. It led many innovative researches on the development of local lifelong education from theoretical form to practical mode, achieving fruitful results. It is expected that the new council will foster more advantages for the high-quality development of Jiangsu Open University and contribute new wisdom to the construction of lifelong education system in Jiangsu.
At the meeting, Deputy Secretary Jin Lixia of Jiangsu Open University, the Chair unit, delivered a speech and Professor Miao Jiandong, Vice President of Nanjing Normal University, made a report on the work of the First Council. According to the relevant provisions of the Articles of the Association and the approval of the superior competent department, all member units elected the Second Council of Director and Supervisors of the Association, and Wang Rong of Jiangsu Education Department was elected as the Second Supervisor. The newly elected Directors held the first meeting of the Second Council, elected its Chairman, Vice-chairman and Secretary-general, and selected the director and deputy director of the academic committee.
In his speech, Professor Cui Xinyou, newly-elected Chairman of the Second Council, pointed out that since its establishment, with the joint efforts of Chairman Peng Kunming and other directors, all member units of the Association have actively participated in the pioneering, basic, and fruitful work, and made many achievements with theoretical and practical application values. The new Council will inherit and carry forward the pragmatic and innovative work style of its predecessor, making new and greater contributions to the education system serving lifelong learning for all and the construction of a learning society in Jiangsu.
