JSOU Hosted the Final of “Internet+” College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition within Provincial Open University System

On May 28th, the final of 2022 “Internet+” College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held at the Grand Hall, Yingtian Campus. This contest, sponsored by the Department of Teaching and Research and hosted by the School of Information and Electrical Engineering, is conducted in an online + offline way. Vice President Zhang Xiao attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. More than 200 people took part in and watched the competition on- and off-line.

Zhang Xiao emphasized in her speech the significance of the Competition, spoke highly of the results of the preliminary work, and commented that it is an event based on the reality of our university and has five features: first, it closely follows the development requirements of the four innovations; second, it embodies the school-running idea of integration; third, it shows the effectiveness of attracting talents to our university; fourth, it reveals the responsibility of young students; fifth, it contains profound feelings of alma mater. She hopes that all participating teams can keep striving and challenging themselves, and give full play to their creativity to win achievements in the competition.

41 outstanding works was chosen from a total of 422 entries to be shortlisted in the final, which strictly refers to the national competition standards and was conducted in two parts: the project roadshow and the judges' question and defense. Each participating team demonstrated their project background, introduction, competitive advantage, business model, financial analysis, team members, etc. with PowerPoint Slides. Expert judges asked and commented on the project from dimensions including education, innovation, teamwork, business, and social value.

Fan Jian, the Leader of Judging Panel and Deputy Director of the Expert Committee of China Educational Innovation School-Enterprise Alliance, made a summary. He praised that the competition is a process for all teams to learn from each other. He also put forward two suggestions for the subsequent improvement and optimization of the projects: first, to practice more and accumulate practical results; second, to establish arguments on facts and enrich supporting materials.

This competition is held amidst the good atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship in the whole province's Open University system, and marks a significant event in our university’s construction. It fully demonstrates the demeanor of youths of our school and embodies the core spirit of cultivate extraordinariness in the ordinary”. JSOU will take this competition as an opportunity to further deepen the reform of education and teaching, continuously improve the quality of personnel training, and promote the school’s quality development.
