Recently, the results of the 12th Jiangsu “Challenge Cup” University Students Entrepreneurship Competition were announced. Among three projects led by JSOU’s students, “Liandong Shuixiang Ecological Water Technology Co., Ltd.” and “Development of High-efficiency Nano Rod-shaped Crystal Materials for Electroplating Wastewater Treatment under the Intelligent Remote Control System of Cloud Technology” of the College of Environment and Ecology entered the Final and won the Silver Prize, while “E-Housekeeper-Intelligent Electric Power Safety Management System” of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture won the Bronze.
Challenge Cup, known as the “Olympics of university students' scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship”, is the most representative, authoritative, and demonstrative competition for university students in China. The provincial competition attracted nearly 500,000 teachers and students, with over 100,000 projects. JSOU attaches great importance to the improvement of students' innovative and entrepreneurial ability. In recent years, teachers and students of our university have accumulated valuable experience in the “Challenge Cup” and achieved remarkable results.
During preparation, the Youth League Committee of JSOU made special arrangements for the Cup. In school competition and before the provincial competition, it made full use of the resources inside and outside the university, held a number of expert training and mock defense sessions, and carried out precise guidance. College leaders, department heads, doctoral teachers, and the General Branch Secretary of the College’s Youth League formed a training and evaluation team, giving full play to the advantages of newcome doctors' scientific research projects, conducting extensive research on core problems, and polishing the projects, which laid a solid foundation for the provincial competition. The Resource Construction Center and the Information Construction Department provide equipment and network support during the finals.
In order to apply the findings of projects, participating teams actively looked for opportunities of field researches and broaden channels for common development. The project team of Liandong Shuixiang went to different places in the country, carried out on-the-spot investigation on perfume lotus, visited Ningbo Perfume Lotus Tourism Culture Festival and Chongyang perfume lotus harvesting event, went to Lingshui, Hainan to guide the construction of water lily base, etc., whom was reported by CCTV 2, Zhejiang TV and many other media, winning recognition from the society. The E-Housekeeper-Intelligent Electric Power Safety Management System has been adopted by Beijing State Grain Bureau, Shanghai Chongming Island, Shanghai Liaoyang Middle School, Anhui Mingguang Aotu Industrial Park, Xinjiang People's Hospital and other places.
Our University will continue to see the Challenge Cup as the guide, focus on the core work of school’s development, and strive to better the support system for creation and entrepreneurship, build a multi-level, three-dimensional campus science and technology ecology, promote the transformation of results of innovative and entrepreneurial projects, lead young students to join the upsurge of innovation and entrepreneurship, and contribute to the construction of a high-level open university.
