On September 23rd, aka the fifth China Farmers’ Day, Vice-President Zhang Xiao led a delegation from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture (SCEA) to the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu Province for an internship base licensing event with seven engineering enterprises. The event was hosted by Yan Daocun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Retired Cadres and Director of the Retired Cadres Division.
The licensing event was divided into two parts. First was the ceremony, in which Cao Yong, Secretary of Branch Party Committee of SCEA awarded licenses to the seven enterprises in turn, and sent seven students to internship. The second part was a symposium.
In her speech, Vice-President Zhang Xiao expressed her gratitude to the Party Committee of Retired Cadres for supporting the event and introduced Jiangsu Open University, including its history, orientation, objectives, research, etc. She pointed out that she hoped to take this event as an opportunity to expand, deepen and broaden all kinds of cooperation with enterprises, so as to form a situation of four-way linkage and collaboration between government, schools, industries, and enterprises in educating people.
At the symposium, college teachers, representatives from trade associations and enterprises conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as talent cultivation, deepening cooperation, and students' internship and employment, as well as students' off-campus training, financial assistance, joint research on cost specialty, cooperation agreement and work management. Wang Rusan put forward practical suggestions on subsidizing students with difficulties, improving internship management, promoting employment, carrying out research projects, setting up teacher studios, etc., and expressed his support and confidence in the sustained and effective development of cooperation.
This event marks a concrete measure for the college to implement the agreement of party building and co-construction to help cultivate talents. It is also an effective result of the activity of visiting enterprises to expand posts and promote employment, which lays a solid foundation for the college's talent cultivation, scientific research and school-enterprise cooperation.
