To promote the "integration of three sectors" in rural areas and explore ways to revitalize rural areas through financial empowerment, 2022 Jiangsu Rural Industry Revitalization Forum opened in Nanjing on the afternoon of December 15th. Invited by the Forum, JSOU’s President Cui Xinyou led Rural Revitalization College, Social Education Department, and Finance Department to join the event. The theme of this year’s Forum is "Gathering Power And Exploring Together For Common Progress". In addition to our university, heads of relevant government departments, key think tanks in the province, financial investment institutions, and practitioners and explorers at the front line of rural industry revitalization also participated.
In recent years, JSOU has fulfilled the leading responsibility of community education entrusted by the provincial party committee and the provincial government. Up to now, the university has undertaken thousands of trainings for farmers. Implementation of the “village (community) academic qualification and quality improvement project” has helped more than 9,000 people in 27 counties and districts improve academic qualifications and practical ability. Relying on the open university system, it also builds a "5+N" community education and cooperation alliance and cultivated the "Jiangsu Lifelong Education Resource Database" which houses numerous digital and paper resources open to the public. In July 2022, JSOU set up the first substantive Rural Revitalization College in the province, striving to open classrooms in the countryside and help create a “land of fish and rice” in the new era.
At the Forum, President Cui Xinyou signed a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement with Agricultural Bank of China, Jiangsu Branch and Xinhua Daily Press on behalf of JSOU, comprehensively and systematically promoting the construction of rural revitalization talent team. He was also appointed the Chief Expert of the Yangtze River Delta Financial Media Think Tank, an organization focusing on the key tasks and major decision-making arrangements in the economic field, especially in the pan-financial field.
Zhang Xuan, Director of Social Education Department and Jiangsu Lifelong Education Credit Bank Management Center of JSOU, gave a keynote speech. She said that the revitalization of talents is advancing and changing with the times. JSOU will continue to serve the needs of rural talent revitalization, and add an innovative engine to the overall rural revitalization.
Starting from the Forum, Jiangsu Open University will, as always, adhere to the people-centered principle, give full play to its advantages and characteristics, and enhance its core competitiveness and social contribution. In the meantime, it will constantly expand cooperation channels and unite all forces, promote the digitalization of education, contribute to the construction of a learning society with lifelong learning for all, and provide a distinctive Jiangsu Plan for rural revitalization and development.
