On April 22nd, the 2023 JSOU Teaching Ability Competition was held at Dinghuaimen Campus. The competition, divided into science and engineering group and general education / liberal arts group, was carried out on the spot for the first time. Six experts from different universities served as judges.
A total of 69 teachers from different schools made up 19 teams to participat in the competition, in which the time was strictly controlled with reference to the on-site exhibition process of the provincial competition. On the competition, the participants’ expressions were accurate and refined, their teaching attitude was natural and friendly, and their teaching ideas clear, which shows the professionalism and spirit of our teachers. The expert judges listened carefully to the contestants' reports, meticulously read the paper materials, and put forward suggestions on the overall design of the teaching plan, the characteristics of vocational education, the ideological and political presentation of the course, the innovation of teaching methods, and the writing of the teaching implementation report. Participating teachers better understood the requirements of the competition during the discussion with experts, and clarified the teaching logic and reform direction of vocational education.
The competition focuses on examining teachers' project-based curriculum reconstruction and information-based teaching ability, and highlights teachers' teamwork and improvisation ability. The first attempt to hold school competition on the spot is an important breakthrough for the Discipline Construction Department to further improve the competition mechanism, and provides a platform for all schools and open universities in our system to build a high-level teacher team.
