On May 10th, the design team of JSOU’s new campus led by He Jingtang, Academician of China Academy of Engineering and master of survey and design, came to the construction site for investigation and inspection. Jing Xuan, Secretary of JSOU’s Party Committee, Cui Xinyou, JSOU’s President, government officials at different levels and relevant personnel attended the meeting which was presided over by Vice President Niu Yutao.

President Cui, on behalf of Jiangsu Open University, extended a warm welcome to Academician He Jingtang, his team, and other attendees, and expressed heartfelt thanks to the support and help of the local governments, as well as the efforts of the design team and all construction units. He said that the new campus project has been listed as a major provincial investment project for three consecutive years, which fully reflects the great importance attached by the Provincial Party Committee and Government to JSOU and lifelong education. Since its implementation, the construction of JSOU’s new campus has overcome the influence of COVID-19 and high temperature, and ensured the overall progress of the project. The completed buildings have demonstrated the design concept of Academician He. In the subsequent construction process, only with Academician He and his design team’s care, attention, and technical guidance, can the new campus fully reflect the development concept of the university and the design concept of Academician He's team.

Academician He expounded the application and embodiment of his architectural design theory of two views and three dimensions (holistic view and sustainable development view, harmony of regionality, culture and times) in the planning and design of the new campus. He emphasized that the overall campus planning structure of the new campus is clear and the layout is reasonable. Adhering to the school-running philosophy of innovation, openness, integration and sharing, the planning and design provide more open communication space so that teachers and students can interact with each other to stimulate thinking. At the same time, the design draws on the construction techniques of traditional Chinese gardens, and combines classicality with modernity to create a concise, unified and atmospheric modern campus.

Academician He, his team, and other officials also inspected the construction site and the model room, highly affirmed the site management under construction and the quality and appearance of the completed buildings.
