As the 33rd National Day for Helping the Disabled was coming, JSOU was invited to participate in the theme activity of Helping the Disabled in Huaqi Community where Psychological Consultant Shen Jing provided psychological counseling services.
Shen Jing cordially communicated with residents to popularize basic mental health knowledge for the disabled, who are usually under great pressure in their daily life because of physical disabilities; their family members may also find it difficult to better get along with them, communicate with them, or relieve their pressure. In each case, Shen explained the diagnostic criteria of mental illness, and communicated with residents on common relaxation training and stress coping methods. She encouraged the handicapped to receive professional rehabilitation training guidance, led them to maintain a healthy and optimistic attitude and actively face life, and improved their physical and mental well-being.
The activity is a platform for psychological services such as psychological counseling and psychological intervention for the disabled, which safeguard their mental health, improve their daily life quality and promote social cohesion and stability.
