On May 17, 2023, the China-Singapore Green and Sustainable Development Summit was held in Nanjing. The event was supported by Singapore Enterprise Development Bureau, Nanjing Commerce Bureau, Nanjing Jianye District, and hosted by Jiangsu Nanjing Ecological Science and Technology Island Economic Development Zone Management Committee, Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco-Tech Island Development Co., Ltd., co-organized by Singapore Lianhe Zaobao. Focusing on topics such as the coordinated development of green industries between China and Singapore, building an international smart ecosystem, the forum invited leaders of Chinese and Singapore governments, experts in the field of green industry and executives of related enterprises to have in-depth dialogues and seek cooperation and development. The School of Environmental Ecology selected young teachers Zhang Yi, Li Yucong and Wu Ji to attend the meeting.
At the meeting, Ji Tiejun, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing and member of the Party Group, delivered a welcome speech. Xie Baokun, Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, gave a keynote speech on Reflections on the Path to Implementing Singapore's 2030 Green Plan, expressing the commitment to promote win-win cooperation between Singapore and Nanjing in the process of sustainable development. Experts, scholars, government officials, entrepreneurs from China and Singapore gathered to focus on green and sustainable development, engaged in in-depth dialogues, and jointly planned the construction of a new ecological system for green smart industries between China and Singapore. This aims to inject new green energy into the development of Nanjing Eco-Tech Island.
By participating in this forum, the faculty members of the College have gained a deeper understanding of the concept of green and sustainable development. They have also broadened their international perspectives and enhanced their ability to engage in international cooperation. The School of Environmental Ecology has been committed to promoting research and education in environmental protection and sustainable development. In the future, they will continue to strengthen cooperation with outstanding universities and enterprises at home and abroad, making greater contributions to promoting green, low-carbon, and sustainable development.
