To improve the lifelong education system in Jiangsu Province and promote the quality development of community education, on July 7, the inaugural meeting of the Community Education Committee of Jiangsu Lifelong Education Research Association and its first Council Meeting was held at Shuangmenlou Hotel, Nanjing, with 172 members from all over the province attending.
To start with, Yu Xiaojun, Secretary-General of the Association, read the notice of “Reply of Agreeing to Establish the Community Education Committee of Jiangsu Lifelong Education Research Association”. Professor Cui Xinyou, JSOU’s President and Chairman of the Association, congratulated on the establishment of the Committee in his speech and put forward three suggestions: to effectively lift up the political position; to focus on the core work, serve the overall situation, and conduct in-depth research in the spirit of seeking truth from facts and being pragmatic for quality achievements; to continuously enhance self-construction of the Committee, complete the rules and regulations, unite members, and strengthen exchanges and innovation. He said that community education is the foundation of a learning society, and the establishment of the Committee is of great significance for promoting the lifelong education system in China.
After deliberation and adoption of relevant documents, the meeting discussed and elected the first batch of directors and the leadership team of the Council. Wu Guanglin was elected as Chairman of the first Committee, in whose speech Wu said that in the future, the Committee should be guided by the needs of all learners for social education, rely on the platform of the Association, strengthen cooperation with organizations engaged in community education, actively promote the basic work of social education in Jiangsu, and jointly establish a more effective system supported by both theory and practice. The Committee will also gather and cultivate professionals of community education, organize high-quality research and training exchanges, deepen and enrich the connotation of community education, and promote innovative community education practice.
In the academic session, Zhou Yanjun, Deputy Secretary-General of China Adult Education Association, Sun Guiying of Suzhou Open University, Ye Bing of Nanjing Xuanwu Community College, etc. delivered reports respectively.
