To help students develop talents and make contributions to the society, from May to July this year, the Youth League Committee of JSOU organized students in an in-depth investigation in Qiaolin Subdistrict and worked with Jiangsu Scientific Promotion Center, Jiangsu Women and Children Foundation, and other departments to create and upgrade the Love and Care for Children outreach program for rural children in distress.
More than 10 student clubs and over 50 teachers and students actively signed up for the program. The Youth League Committee organized a training meeting in accordance with each club’s strong suits and characteristics of children, carefully preparing several outreach courses, covering red education, science and technology popularization, ecological protection, mental health, sports, literature and art, labor education, etc.
From July 3 to 7, the outreach team went to the Youth Home of Lanhuatang Community in Qiaolin Subdistrict. Through red education, popular science education, literature, art, and sports, plus quality development, teenagers unattended in summer, children of migrant workers and dual-income workers, were able to spend a safe, happy and meaningful vacation.
From July 3 to July 4, the team worked with members of the Student Union and the Red Cross Society and visited 10 families in difficulty in Linpu and Wujiang Communities. There, students learned about the children’s life and study, toured the Dream Transformation+ project and sent them love packages. They actively exchanged the university life with children, in hope of forming a normal companionship, and encouraged them to study hard to get admitted to their dream schools.
In the future, the Youth League Committee of JSOU will lead more students to the grassroots and rural areas, and strive to write a better chapter of JSOUers with what they have learned.
