On the morning of September 28th, the Third Congress of Jiangsu Open University (Jiangsu City Vocational College) Party Committee completed all the agendas and successfully concluded. Jing Xuan, Secretary of JSOU’s Party Committee, delivered a closing speech, and Ding Rongyu, President, presided over the closing meeting.
At the first plenary meeting of the Congress, delegates listened carefully to and reviewed the report of the Second Party Committee of JSOU and that of the Second Discipline Inspection Committee. Six delegations held meetings to discuss the reports, the election method of the General Assembly (draft), the list of candidates for the two committees, and elected the scrutineers of the General Assembly.
The second plenary session passed the election method of the General Assembly and the list of the tellers and scrutineers, as well as the candidates for the two committees. The delegates voted, and according to the election method and vote counting results of the conference, the conference elected the members of the Third Party Committee of JSOU and the Third Discipline Inspection Committee.
At the closing meeting, delegates reviewed and unanimously passed the Report of the Second Party Committee and the Work Report of the Second Committee for Discipline Inspection. The goal of a leading and distinctive domestic high-level new-type university, development strategy, four major actions and ten key tasks put forward in the report point out the way for further development of JSOU, marking the action program to promote the construction of a high-level open university at the critical moment. The Congress calls on Party organizations at all levels, all members and faculty to unite around the Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping as its core, and under the leadership of provincial Party committee and government, hold on to their original intention and mission to speed up the construction of a high-level new university rooted in Jiangsu with distinctive features and standing in the forefront, and strive to achieve the goal of the Third Congress.
In his closing speech, Jing Xuan pointed out that this Congress is not only a gathering uniting strength and boosting confidence, but also a meeting emancipating the mindset and seeking common development, and a meeting holding high the banner and making progress with gratitude. The Congress reviewed the development achievements of JSOU in the past five years, summarized the valuable experience of school running, analyzed the opportunities and challenges presented in future development, explained how to open a new window for high-quality development, deployed the overall objectives, key tasks and implementation paths for the next five years, demonstrating the direction for building a high-level open university with the times.
After the closing of the Congress, the new Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Commission held their first plenary meeting, and elected members of the Standing Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the new Discipline Inspection Committee.
