School of Environmental Ecology Achieves Excellent Results in the First Flower Arrangement and Potted Plant Combination Skills Competition in Nanjing

On September 26, 11 faculty members and students from the Department of Landscape Architecture of the School of Environmental Ecology participated in the first Flower Arrangement and Potted Plant Combination Skills Competition in Nanjing. This competition, themed Flowers Blooming in Beautiful Nanjing was organized by the Nanjing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau and co-hosted by the Qixia District Agriculture and Rural Bureau, the Nanjing Flower Industry Association, and other units. More than 300 participants, including researchers, professionals, and ordinary citizens, registered for the competition, with 100 individuals reaching the final competition stage. 

The School of Environmental Ecology demonstrated exceptional competence in the competition. After intense competition and evaluation, a total of 14 individuals received awards, including 4 from the School of Environmental Ecology. Ms. Liang Haiying, a faculty member, won the silver award in the Flower Arrangement and Artistic Flower Design category, and Ms. Zhou Qi, also a faculty member, won the bronze award in the Potted Plant Combination category. Two students of grade 2021from the Environmental Art Design major, Wu Shuo and Liu Chuang, both received bronze awards in the Flower Arrangement and Artistic Flower Design category. Ms. Zhao Shuying and six other faculty members and students received honorable mentions. Three teachers received the Excellent Guidance Teacher Award, and the school received the Excellent Organization Award. 

This competition marked the first time that faculty and students from the School of Environmental Ecology competed alongside industry professionals. Faculty members not only guided students in their participation but also actively competed, embodying the principle of learning through competition, teaching through competition. Participation in this competition not only enhanced the professional skills of faculty and students but also cultivated a spirit of craftsmanship. The event served as a platform for communication and collaboration between the school and industry associations, laying a foundation for the cultivation of outstanding talents in line with the development needs of the landscape industry and further deepening collaboration between the school and enterprises in talent cultivation.
