JSOU Held 2023 Opera Performance Practice Teaching Showcase Presentation

  On November 21st, Jiangsu Open University held the 2023 Opera Performance Practice Teaching Showcase Presentation at the Kunqu Theater of Jiangsu. Li Mingzhen, Director of the Science and Technology Education Department of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Xiao Yajun, Party Branch Secretary of the Theater, Zhang Xiao and Yang Yu, Vice Presidents of JSOU, and other departmental leaders and teachers attended the event.


Yang Yu delivered a speech before the performance, thanking the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Jiangsu Kunqu Theatre for their support to our university, and looking forward to more in-depth and lasting cooperation. She said, Chinese opera is the pearl in traditional Chinese culture. We should work together to promote its development and succession. She said that the presentation was not only to show the elegance of our students, but to actively respond to the requirements of the Ministry of Education on offline teaching in open education, which was also a test of teaching effectiveness.

Li Mingzhen affirmed the training of students of Traditional Chinese Opera Performance Major at JSOU, as well as the innovation, exploration and practice of our school in the inheritance and development of excellent traditional Chinese culture. She advised that we further strengthen the cooperation between government and school to train more professionals for the development of Chinese opera.

Zhang Xiao and Xiao Yajun jointly unveiled the Practice Teaching Base of School of Arts, JSOU. After the ceremony, students majoring in Opera Performance presented excerpts from the classic Kunqu Opera plays Sanchakou and Peony Pavilion. Zhang Xiao concluded the event with thanks to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism again for its care and support, and praised the performance as the results of practical teaching. She said, we should shoulder the responsibility of inheriting and carrying forward traditional Chinese opera art and it takes a joint effort to carry forward and promote the development of traditional Chinese culture.
