OUUK Delegation Paid a Visit to JSOU

On November 6th, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Kevin Shakesheff from the Open University, UK (OUUK) led a delegation to visit Jiangsu Open University. Jing Xuan, Secretary of JSOU’s Party Committee, welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude to the OUUK for its support. He said, the OUUK, as the first university to successfully implement distance education, has a good reputation and influence around the world. JSOU is committed to building an international cooperation network among open universities, hoping to further deepen the cooperation between the two universities and make contributions to education and teaching innovation as well as promoting education equity. He added that the OUUK is an important partner of JSOU, and the two sides have a good foundation for cooperation in teacher training and curriculum design. JSOU is willing to expand cooperation with the OUUK in fields like educational technology, academic research, teacher training, and resource sharing.

Prof. Kevin Shakesheff said that the two schools share the same philosophy of running an open university, confirmed the current cooperation between the two sides, and expressed expectations for further deepening cooperation. Starting from the inception of the OUUK, he introduced the experience and achievements of the university in distance education by breaking through the technical bottleneck and ensuring the quality of online teaching. He said that the OUUK has more advantages than traditional universities in the flexible application of modern information teaching technology, so he hoped that the two universities would further deepen exchanges and sharing in education, teaching, and technology application.

Zhang Xiao, JSOU’s Vice President, acknowledged the achievements of the Online Workshop co-organized by the two universities in the past five years, and discussed the future cooperation in online and teacher training base construction, high-level talent training, exchange of research and academic achievements, international cooperation in vocational education, and international Chinese education.

After the meeting, the OUUK delegation paid a visit to Jiangsu Credit Bank for Lifelong Education.
