The Council meeting of East China Open University Alliance of 2023 organized by Zhejiang Open University was held in Wenzhou. The meeting ran from Nov.22 to 24 and gathered participants from various provinces and cities in the region. Ding Rongyu, the Deputy Secretary and President of JSOU, Xu Hao, Director of School Office, attended the meeting.
Focusing on “digital reform and lifelong education development”, members contributed their ideas on implementing digital strategies, shared their features, achievements and future planning in digital reform.
Ding Rongyu communicated on the topic of “Digital Reform and Current Mission of JSOU”. He said that digital reform of open university derived from certain conditions of the past and followed the development of the times. Complying with JSOU’s prospective development, Ding put forward the concept of “innovative university with digital intelligence” which could be expounded in four aspects: adaptation to digital reform with new education concept; upgrading training mode with built-in technology of digital intelligence; integration of education with industry to achieve a smooth chain of teaching, learning and application; construction of a platform for pooling resources.
Members of the alliance contributed on the theme of the meeting. Deputy President of Anhui Open University, Sun Zhijuan, said that measures should be taken to implement reform comprehensively, to make better use of digital technology and promote lifelong education for the public. President of Fujian Open University, Wu Guorong, mentioned their adherence to education digitization and their efforts made to achieve fairness, efficiency and high quality in education by carrying out digital training, assessment, platform, resources, application and practice.
Xu Wenmou from Shandong Open University expressed their intention to accelerate smart campus construction, explore a syncretic education mode on and off line, improve digital management and propel digital transform. Deng Wenjun from Jiangxi Open University emphasized the new situation amid the digital background, integration of comprehensive reform of open university and digital construction. Zheng Yihui, Vice President of Shanghai Open University, analyzed the digital trend of international education, introduced the practice and exploration of Shanghai Open University. Considering the impact of artificial intelligence on education, she proposed to continuously promote the construction of digital enabling lifelong learning system, so as to contribute to forming a learning society and a learning-oriented country. Wang Zhengdong, President of Zhejiang Open University, said that we should adhere to the support of modern information technology, strengthen the construction of career development community through the online service platform, rich resource base, and make efforts to eliminate the digital gap, inequality and imbalance of education. Wu Songqing, Vice President of Xiamen Open University, proposed to persist in the integrated development strategy of open education, vocational education and continuing education. Weng Xuelian, President of Ningbo Open University, said that we should uphold the concept of openness, innovation and integration, build a new development pattern of education integration through the innovation of characteristic colleges, actively serve the local economic and social development, and contribute to lifelong education. Chen Sheyu, President of Nanjing Open University, proposed to promote the integration of various types of education based on the digital reform of education and provide all-round learning support for the whole people. The Work Report of East China Open University Alliance 2022-2023 was read out at the meeting and the evaluation result of the joint scientific research projects of 2022-2023 was announced. Members countersigned the Minutes of the 2023 Council Meeting, and identified Xiamen Open University as the chairman unit of 2024 and Qingdao Open University as the vice chairman unit, and carried out the flag handover.
