On June 24th, the 2024 China (Nanjing) Algorithm-focused District Construction Summit jointly sponsored by Gulou District Government and JSOU was held in Nanjing. 300 representatives from different fields gathered to start a new exploration of algorithm, computing power, and data integration. JSOU’s President Ding Rongyu attended the summit and delivered a speech.
Ding said, algorithm is the key variable in AI’s value creation and the core ability of intelligent computing. Empowering the modern industrial system of Gulou District with algorithm innovation, establishing a series of innovative applications and China's first “Algorithm-focused District” will surely inject strong impetus into the construction of Nanjing as an “Algorithm-focused City”. He added that JSOU will actively participate in the construction of “Algorithm-focused District”, deepen the integration of production, teaching, and research, and cooperate closely with all stakeholders.
Located in Gulou District, JSOU actively integrates itself into regional quality development. Relying on the production, teaching, and research platforms such as Jiangsu Institute of Innovative Ecology, the university is seizing the digital economy era, and put forward the idea of building Nanjing as an “Algorithm-focused City” in the key project “Countermeasures for Nanjing to Seize the New Track of AI Industry”, which would promote Nanjing to gain a leading edge in the field. Developed on the idea, the “Implementation Plan for the Construction of ‘Algorithm-focused District’ in Gulou District(2024-2026)” enacted by local Government and Jiangsu Institute of Innovative Ecology was officially released at the summit.
The release of the Plan aroused heated discussion among participants, and further enhanced the influence of JSOU in the research of digital economy and AI-impowering industry development. In the future, the university will further promote the integration of production, teaching and research, build more joint innovation alliances with schools and enterprises, and construct a community for cultivating innovative talents with hands-on skills.
