Changzhou Open University Assists Community Education for Children in Distress

On April 6th, a community education activity for children in distress was held at Xuebu Town Community Education Center in Jintan District, Changzhou. A total of 20 children participated in the activity sponsored by the local government and their guidance counselors came from the Tong Meng Xing Yu Community Education Studio affiliated to Changzhou Open University.

Sun Yu gave a lesson on Qingming Festival folk culture, led children to read related poems, and introduced the origin, customs, and delicacies of the festival. A special Poetry and Painting Competition came after, in which students should draw the Qingming Festival in their minds, thus piquing their interest in learning and traditional culture. Later, Wu Jie gave a lecture on the Space Day of China, which spurred the students to explore science and technology in the future. In the end, Zhu Yining instructed students on how to make silk Ebru, and wonderful works were done happily together.

Since 2014, Changzhou Open University has established 85 Community Education Studios, covering family education, senior education, aesthetic education, cultural heritage, popularizing-law education, etc., constantly fulfilling its role in promoting lifelong learning and serving the society.
