From July 20 to 21, the "Digital Empowerment of Open Teaching: AI Education Innovation Application Forum and the Forum of the Distance Education Committee of the China Association for Educational Technology (CAET)" was held in Datong, Shanxi Province. Over 100 representatives from member institutions attended, including JSOU. Vice President Zhang Xiao led the delegation to attende the forum.
During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Yao Liying, Vice President of Shanxi Datong University; Chen Li, Vice President of the CAET; Mao Youfeng, President of the Chinese Statistical Education Society; etc. The meeting acknowledged the CAET Distance Education Committee’s significant contributions to the development of distance education in higher education over the past thirty years and proposed suggestions for enhancing its role in educational digitalization and AI education. The forum emphasized the importance of advancing digital education and AI implementation based on regional realities, encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to lead digital transformation and intelligent upgrades in education, while also addressing the challenges posed by deepening digital development. Renowned experts delivered keynote reports that sparked deep reflection and lively discussions among attendees.
On July 21, the Eighth Members’ Congress of the Committee was convened, with Xu Mingjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the National Open University, delivering a speech. Participants heard the work report (including the financial report) from the Seventh Congress and elected 30 new Standing Members. Yang Xiaotang were named Director and 11 members appointed as Deputy Directors, including Vice President Zhang.
