On June 27-28, JSOU held its third Faculty’s Congress and the first meeting of the third Labor Union Members’ Congress, featuring key figures including Party Secretary Jing Xuan, President Ding Rongyu, other university leaders, and Jiangsu Education and Technology Labor Union’s Vice President Cui Wenhua, alongside over 200 representatives and invited guests who gathered to discuss the university's development. The conference was hosted by Vice President Yang Yu.
In his opening speech, Secretary Jing congratulated and thanked the faculty and staff for their hard work. He emphasized the importance of this meeting during a critical time for educational reform, noting it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the PRC and the 45th anniversary of the founding of JSOU. Secretary Jing urged representatives to enhance their political awareness, fulfill their responsibilities, and engage in meaningful discussions to ensure the conference is productive and forward-looking.
Cui Wenhua congratulated the conference and recognized JSOU's achievements and the its labor union's efforts in recent years. He outlined four hopes for the new labor union committee: strengthen ideological foundations, unite faculty for school development, focus on key responsibilities, and deepen reforms to enhance the Party’s connections with faculty.
President Ding delivered a work report titled “Harnessing Strengths for New Heights in Building a Smart and Innovative University”, summarizing key accomplishments since the last conferences in eight areas, including political leadership, quality education, social service capabilities, etc. He acknowledged the efforts of faculty and staff while recognizing challenges that lie ahead, for which he outlined six priorities: building core competitiveness, creating an educational service ecosystem, improving teaching quality, enhancing social service impact, integrating industry and education, and increasing satisfaction among faculty and staff. In the end, he called for unity and collaboration to elevate the university’s development in the context of digital transformation.
The conference also included reports on financial matters and the election of new committees. Representatives actively discussed important issues related to the university’s reforms and provided valuable feedback and suggestions.
In the closing session, a resolution was unanimously passed, calling for collective effort in advancing the university's mission under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s thoughts. Secretary Jing concluded by stressing the need for consensus, problem recognition, and unified action among faculty and staff to build a strong foundation for JSOU’s future.
