On October 8, School of Arts hosted the 2024 Fashion Design Skills Competition aka. the Qualifier for the 48th WorldSkills Competition Nanjing Regional. The competition featured two main categories: makeup and styling design, and facial skincare, with 19 students participating.
The event not only highlighted traditional fashion design skills but also integrated contemporary elements and innovative concepts. Contestants were required to complete various tasks, including hairstyle design, makeup, and skincare within a limited timeframe, showcasing their professional skills and overall competence. After fierce competition, the first prize was awarded to Ding Mengjie, a Fashion Design major.
Through this competition, the School aims at providing a platform for students to showcase their talents, exchange experiences, and ignite their creativity and learning interest. The event also helped cultivate teamwork and professional skills, and as an opportunity to select candidates for the 48th WorldSkills Competition, Nanjing Regional, advanced the development of fashion design education by aligning the curriculum, teaching standards, and faculty training with the principles of the WorldSkills Competition.
