Recently, the UNESCO National Information Program 2024 IFAP Trip to Tibet series of activities, sponsored by the Institute of Scientific and Technological Information of China, was launched in Lhasa. The Intelligent Seawater Coral Fish Ecosystem developed by the School of Information Engineering of our university has been officially collected by Xizang Natural Science Museum with its innovative value and significant educational significance in the field of marine ecology research. The Xizang Natural Science Museum gave full recognition to the scientific significance and educational value of the ecosystem, and issued the 2024 No.001 collection certificate at the launch ceremony with the UNESCO National Information Program (IFAP).
As one of UNESCO's two information-related programs, IFAP aims to improve the information literacy of women, children, the disabled, and people in less developed countries and regions worldwide, and help to build a global information equity and knowledge society. At the launch ceremony, Tsring Norbu, curator of the museum, stressed that the ecosystem model provides valuable opportunities for Tibetan people to have close contact and in-depth understanding of marine life, injected new vitality into the science popularization in Xizang, and greatly stimulated the people's strong desire to protect the marine ecology and protect their blue homeland.
After the launch ceremony, enterprises and research institutes from Beijing, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Xizang provided donations of popular science resources for the program, and representatives of the resource donors signed donation agreements with the recipient, the Xizang Natural Science Museum. In the context of globalization, improving information literacy and narrowing the digital divide are of great significance to promoting balanced regional development. Starting with the IFAP Tour to Xizang, the college will continue to deepen knowledge popularization, give full play to the advantages of information technology and scientific and technological innovation, and play a positive role in improving the information literacy of people in remote areas in China and helping the high-quality development of Xizang.
