On December 23, the 6th Session of Family Education Masterclass Series was held at Meiling Primary School in Yangzhou. The event was hosted by Wang Zheng, Deputy Director of the Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Social Education Service and Guidance Center and Deputy Director of the Department of Social Education at Jiangsu Open University.

Wang Zheng highlighted that the “Family Education Masterclass” series, launched across the province, represents an innovative initiative by JSOU in response to the Ministry of Education’s Guidelines on Improving School-Family-Society Collaborative Education Mechanisms. The university aims to continually focus on providing high-quality family education guidance as a vital component of urban and rural community public services, striving to meet societal needs.

Ding Xiaoqing, co-founder of Yiyue Academy and a renowned advocate for children's reading, delivered a themed lecture titled “Leveraging Reading to Become Better Parents”. Targeting parents of first- and second-grade students, Ding emphasized “serenity” as the core principle for cultivating a proper understanding of childhood and becoming quality parents. She shared insights on creating a reading-friendly environment, setting a positive example as parents, and applying scientific methods for parent-child reading. She posed thought-provoking questions and encouraged parents to read with their children, exploring nature, relationships, and society together to support their growth.

Family education serves as the cornerstone of the entire educational framework and holds pivotal importance. JSOU will continue to foster collaboration with various sectors of society, offering guidance through ideas, actions, and methods to empower parents and guide children effectively, nurturing a supportive educational environment and fostering a positive social ethos.
