On February 11, the GEF-7 Jiangsu Project Area’s 2025 Work Plan Seminar was successfully held in Nanjing. Research teams from Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, Jiangsu Open University, and other institutions joined the event. JSOU faculty secured key roles in the project, with Dr. Qin Pinzhu leading knowledge management and technical training, and Dr. Zhang Wenqi’s team responsible for capacity building for farmers and agricultural technicians in Jiangsu’s Liuhe District.

The GEF-7 Project, “Innovative transformation of China’s food production systems and agroecological landscapes”, is jointly implemented by the FAO and China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, aiming to support the innovative transformation of China’s agro-landscapes and agri-food value chains towards environmental and ecological sustainability at scale in support of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, Rural Revitalization, and climate resilience.

At the seminar, project leaders presented their implementation plans for 2025, followed by discussions on eco-friendly product value enhancement, policy research, technology frameworks, and outreach strategies.

Researcher Liang Yonghong from Jiangsu Provincial Farmland Quality and Agricultural Environmental Protection Station emphasized that 2025 is a critical phase and called for clear planning, case study development, and strategic knowledge accumulation to contribute China’s expertise to global agricultural sustainability. JSOU’s project leaders pledged to refine their work plans, leverage their expertise, and continue advancing the initiative.
