On December 27th, eleven faculty members and students from the Landscape Architecture Department of the Environmental Ecology School participated in the second Nanjing Flower Arrangement and Combination Planting Skills Competition. The event was organized by the Nanjing Flower Industry Association and the Nanjing Metropolitan Flower Industry Alliance, co-organized by the Jiangsu Hilly Region Nanjing Agricultural Science Research Institute and other entities, and guided by the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Jiangsu Flower and Nursery Stock Association.
The theme of this competition was Blooming Prosperity, Beautiful Nanjing, which attracted a total of 96 finalists from various universities, research institutes, enterprises, and flower businesses across the city.
With the organization and support of the school, the participants underwent rigorous training and meticulously refined their competition entries. Their hard work ultimately paid off, resulting in excellent achievements.
Our faculty members and students competed alongside nearly ten national-level competitors and seasoned professionals from the flower art industry. After intense on-site competition and evaluation, a total of 14 gold, silver, and bronze medals (including one from the Environmental Ecology School) were given out. Additionally, 26 excellence awards (including eight from the Environmental Ecology School) were presented.
This competition marked the second time that the Landscape Architecture Department organized faculty and students to compete alongside industry professionals. It also provided an opportunity for both teachers and students to participate together, promoting learning and teaching through competition. Through participation in this competition, both faculty members and students not only improved their professional skills but also deepened their understanding of the craftsman spirit. This experience enhanced the practical teaching abilities of the teachers and served as a motivation and role model for the students.
Participating in the competition built a bridge for communication and collaboration between our school and the flower industry associations. It laid a solid foundation for cultivating outstanding talents who are better suited to the needs of the landscape architecture industry. Additionally, it further promoted deeper cooperation between the school and enterprises in talent cultivation.
