Recently, the research team from the Rural Revitalization Schoolconducted a technology demonstration activity titled Key Green and Multi-Efficient Technologies for Mitigating Continuous Cropping Soil Constraints in Jiangning District, Nanjing. This event has brought new hope to the melon and fruit cultivation industry in Jiangning District.
Over time, due to highly intensive farming practices, the melon, fruit, and vegetable industry in Jiangning District faced a series of continuous cropping obstacles such as secondary salinization, acidification, and microbial imbalance in the soil. These issues have severely hindered the sustainable development of the industry. To address this challenge, the Rural Revitalization School successfully implemented the key green and multi-efficient technologies for mitigating continuous cropping soil constraints at the production base of the Hengxi Melon and Fruit Professional Technical Association.
Through long-term research, the Rural Revitalization School's research team has developed an innovative green control system by scientifically combining calcium cyanamide, organic materials, and chemical fertilizers. This system leverages a synergistic physical-chemical-microbial approach. The technology features a standardized operational process, covering material ratios, plowing and ridging, covering with mulch film, and greenhouse sealing steps, all supported by detailed dosage and timing charts for easy farmer operation. To promote this technology, the research team created educational resources, including informative posters and videos, which have been uploaded to the China Science Communication platform, providing strong support for technology dissemination.
The promotion and application of this innovative technology have not only effectively resolved the continuous cropping obstacles faced by the melon, fruit, and vegetable industry in Jiangning District but also achieved multiple wins through technological empowerment, enhancing agricultural efficiency, increasing farmers' incomes, and contributing to greener rural areas. This multi-benefit outcome offers a replicable and scalable Jiangsu Solution for implementing the rural revitalization strategy. The achievement by the Rural Revitalization School's research team will bring new development opportunities to the melon and fruit cultivation industry in Jiangning District and potentially wider regions, supporting the deep implementation of the rural revitalization strategy and accelerating agricultural modernization.
The Rural Revitalization School will continue to dedicate itself to agricultural science and technology innovation and promotion, providing strong support for the sustainable development of agricultural industries. It aims to contribute more wisdom and strength to the rural revitalization effort.
