On April 25, the 6th Student Sports Games within Provincial Open University System opened with great fanfare in Suqian. Directed by Jiangsu Open University and hosted by Suqian Open University, the event brought together 345 athletes from 14 delegations across open universities in Jiangsu Province.

Ding Rongyu, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of JSOU, stated in his opening speech that the Student Sports Games is a major event enriching the athleticism of faculty and students. It not only serves as a comprehensive review of physical education, student fitness, and mental outlook, but also puts to the test the physical strength, athletic ability, and determination of the athletes and coaches. Moreover, it showcases the participants’ teamwork, collaboration, and fighting spirit. Yan Hui, Vice Mayor of Suqian, extended a warm welcome in his remarks, offering heartfelt congratulations on the successful opening of the Games and greeting the visiting guests and athletes. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Provincial Department of Education and JSOU for their long-standing support of Suqian’s educational development, especially for their strong support in organizing the event.

The Games featured both competitive and recreational events. Cheers, applause, and laughter filled the air, creating an atmosphere that was both intensely competitive and delightfully festive, resonating across every corner of the sports ground.

Vice President of JSOU, Hang Zhuhong, delivered the closing speech as the Games officially concluded on the morning of April 26. A total of three records were broken during the competition. The top three teams were Changzhou Open University, Kunshan Open University, and Zhangjiagang Open University.
