The OU Delegation Visits JSOU

A delegation from The Open University(OU), led by Professor Klaus-Dieter Rossade, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS), along with Dr. Kan Qianxi, Director of the Chinese Department at the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics and Co-Director of the Online Confucius Institute, and Ms. Lin Lin, China Representative of OU, visited Jiangsu Open University (JSOU). The delegation was received by Han Chenghui, member of the Standing Committee of the University’s Party Committee and Vice President. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on collaborative initiatives, including the joint development of a teacher training center, cooperation in international Chinese language education programs, establishment of overseas learning centers, sharing of online educational resources, and interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Vice President Han welcomed the delegation and highlighted JSOU’s recent achievements in open education and lifelong learning systems. He emphasized the shared educational philosophy, teaching models, and resource development approaches between JSOU and OU, expressing hope for deepened collaboration in teacher training, joint curriculum development, and research.

Professor Rossade reflected on the ongoing partnership between the two institutions and introduced the disciplinary structure and key research areas of WELS. He reaffirmed OU’s strong commitment to collaborating with JSOU and expressed interest in advancing resource sharing and expanding cooperation in teacher development, international Chinese education, and educational technology.

The meeting concluded with consensus on multiple areas, including the establishment of a teacher development center, academic exchange programs, international Chinese language education cooperation, and technology-enhanced language teaching.

The discussion was attended by representatives from JSOU’s International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Human Resources Office, Academic Affairs Office, School of Foreign Languages, and other relevant departments.
