On the morning of October 15, the opening ceremony of the national advanced workshop “Empowering Urban Renewal Through AI Large-Scale Models” were held at JSOU. Co-organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and hosted by JSOU, the event brought together over 50 professionals from universities, state-owned enterprises, industry associations, and private companies, along with nearly 200 JSOU faculty representatives.
Attendees included Liu Guiyou, Standing Committee Member of the JSOU Party Committee and Vice President; Xiang Jinwu, Professor at Beihang University and Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and Zhou Jun, Director of the Talent Development Office under the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. The session was chaired by Xu De, Executive Director of JSOU’s Provincial Continuing Education Base for Professionals.
In his opening speech, Vice President Liu Guiyou emphasized the strategic importance of integrating AI and urban renewal. He encouraged participants to approach the training with an open mind, apply what they learn in practical settings, and help promote the adoption of smart technologies in their respective fields.
Director Zhou Jun underscored Jiangsu’s need for a highly skilled technical workforce to sustain high-quality development. He described the workshop as a concrete step toward aligning talent development with national strategic goals and regional economic needs.
Professor Xiang Jinwu delivered a keynote titled “Low-Altitude Economy and Future Industries in the Context of Urban Renewal.” He outlined the policy framework, core technologies, and potential applications—such as urban air mobility, logistics, emergency response, and tourism—that define this emerging strategic industry. He urged participants to pursue interdisciplinary learning and become versatile professionals capable of supporting industrial transformation.
Prior to the ceremony, JSOU President Zhang Yingchun met with Professor Xiang and other distinguished guests to exchange views on talent development and technological innovation.
