The 2025 Nanjing Smart Agriculture Technology Innovation Academic Exchange was hosted at Jiangsu Open University, featuring the theme “Gathering Intelligence for Strong Agriculture, Integration, and Empowerment.” Co-organized by the Nanjing Society of Agriculture and the Institute of Rural Revitalization, the event welcomed around 90 participants from universities, research institutions, and industries to discuss advancements in smart agriculture.
President Zhang Yingchun opened the ceremony, stressing that smart agriculture encompasses technological innovation as well as new concepts critical for rural revitalization. She highlighted various university initiatives, including the establishment of Institute of Rural Revitalization and programs aimed at enhancing the skills of community leaders, which support the modernization of agriculture in Jiangsu. President Zhang expressed hope that the exchange would spark collaboration across sectors and drive progress in modern agriculture. Outstanding research papers were awarded by Vice President Liu Guiyou during the event.
Keynote speaker Academician Zhang Jiabao from the Chinese Academy of Engineering addressed disruptive technologies in soil nutrient detection. Researcher Xia Xianfei shared insights on intelligent agricultural machinery, while Professor Yao Guozhang discussed the application of AI in agriculture. Industry representatives from companies like Nanjing Rongxin Agriculture Technology Co. and Nanjing Ninglu Information Technology Co. exchanged ideas on technology integration and collaboration.
Guo Shuangqing, Deputy Director of the Nanjing Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, summarized local achievements in smart agriculture and called for policy support, technology R&D, and long-term cooperation mechanisms to enhance smart agriculture development.
The exchange provided a key platform for collaboration in smart agriculture, contributing to Jiangsu Open University’s efforts in rural revitalization and the integration of agricultural technology with industry innovation.
